What is TEMAT?
The Texas Emergency Management Assistance Team is a state resource with multi-disciplined, multi-talented, and highly qualified members. A TEMAT member is a subject matter expert with a mastery of all phases of emergency management. In this regard, TEMAT members serve as advisors, coaches, and mentors. TEMAT is deployed under the direction of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, as required to support local entities and Disaster Districts in the event of a catastrophic incident, event, or threatened venue. The response teams are recruited from various disciplines at the local level and coordinated with other State agencies. The roots of TEMAT were established at the local level and offered to the State as a best practices model. Without the interest of local individuals and entities, the TEMAT program would not exist.
The TEMAT Business Manual includes instructions on how individuals can apply to become TEMAT members, as well as how to be deployed and reimbursed for said deployment.
