TDEM is now accepting applications for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) designated in the Major Disaster Declaration for DR-4366 Tropical Storm Imelda affecting Chambers, Harris, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery, Orange, and San Jacinto counties. The initial estimate provided by FEMA is for $10,124,734 available in HMGP funding for this declaration. This figure may change at the one-year mark.
Eligible subapplicants include: state agencies, local governments, tribal governments, and certain private nonprofit organizations. Projects from jurisdictions within the declared counties will receive top priority, and regional flood projects associated with the affected watersheds will receive additional consideration.
All entities seeking funding under this opportunity must have a FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Action Plan at the time the project is submitted to FEMA for consideration and at the time an award is made with the exception of projects to develop or update mitigation plans. An exception to this requirement may be requested on a case-by-case basis in accordance with FEMA’s 2015 HMA Guidance.
All applications must be received by TDEM no later than October 2, 2020 in order to be considered for funding under this opportunity.
