Heavy rainfall and tropical storm conditions affected the upper Texas coast, with storm surge dangers along the Coastal Bend. The storm grew to hurricane strength and made landfall near Sargent Beach, Texas as a Category 1 Hurricane on September 14, 2021.
Gov. Greg Abbott issued disaster declarations for 17 Texas counties along the coastal region. Hundreds of thousands of Texans lost power during the storm, mostly in the Houston area.
