Texas Emergency Management Officials Deploy Additional State Emergency Response Resources Amid Rainfall, Flash Flooding

AUSTIN - The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) announced today that the agency has deployed additional state emergency response resources amid ongoing rainfall and flash flooding impacting the state. These assets are activated in addition to the state emergency response resources already deployed and responding to continuing heavy rainfall and flash floods across Texas.

"As we keep an eye on the forecast in Texas, state emergency response resources are staged and prepared to assist communities with local response efforts," said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. "Texans are urged to stay weather aware and follow instructions of local first responders and emergency management personnel."

TDEM is monitoring the weather as heavy rain continues to impact Texas through the later part of the week. Texans are urged to monitor local forecast information to keep themselves and their property safe.

The following state emergency response resources are activated or on standby to support local weather response efforts:

  • Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (Texas A&M Task Force 1): Swiftwater Rescue Boat Squads
  • Texas Department of Public Safety: Helicopters with hoist capabilities, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers and Tactical Marine Unit
  • Texas Department of Transportation: High profile vehicles and personnel monitoring road conditions
  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Department: Game Warden search and rescue boat teams
  • Texas National Guard: Helicopters with hoist capabilities
  • Texas Department of State Health Services (Texas Emergency Medical Task Force): Severe Weather Support Packages
  • Texas A&M Forest Service: Incident Management Teams and saw crews
  • Public Utility Commission of Texas: Power outage monitoring and coordination with utility providers
  • Railroad Commission of Texas: Monitoring of the state’s natural gas supply and communication with the oil and gas industry
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality: Air/water/wastewater monitoring
