New TDEM Region 3 covers Northeast Texas, Deep East Texas, and Southeast Texas
LUFKIN, Texas - The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) announced today the promotion of Section Chief Michael Bradberry to Assistant Chief for the newly-drawn TDEM Region 3.
“In his new role, Assistant Chief Bradberry will continue his honorable career in the community where he grew up,” said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. “I am confident in his ability to lead Region 3 and further our responsibility to support Texas communities before, during, and after disasters.”
Michael Bradberry began his DPS career in 1994 as a Trooper stationed throughout East Texas, where he honorably served every county within the new region which he now leads. During his 27 year law enforcement career, he promoted to the rank of Major, and worked in many duty stations across Texas, including service in the DPS Office of Inspector General.
Additionally, Bradberry has served as a TDEM Regional Section Chief for Preparedness and Response since 2021.
He has degrees in Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin University and the FBI National Academy.
Bradberry will be stationed in Lufkin.
TDEM now has 8 geographic regions, an increase from 6, to reflect and address our commitment to service delivery at the local level for emergencies and disasters throughout Texas. The new boundaries for TDEM Region 3 encompass Northeast, Deep East, and Southeast Texas.
Chief Kidd also announced the promotion of Section Chief Erica McDowell to Assistant Chief of TDEM Region 1, which encompasses Northwest Texas from the Panhandle to the Big Country.
Assistant Chief Brandi Ashby, who served in Northwest Texas for the past 5 years, has transferred to the newly-created Region 8, headquartered in College Station.
